Ever get the feeling you just got screwed. In the bad way? Well, that's how I'm ending my week.
Believe it or not - and I now cannot believe it - I voted for Jorge Arbusto not once, but twice. I also voted for GA Senator Saxby Chambliss. In fact, if memory serves, I mostly voted Republican in the last election, a notable exception being Thurbert Baker who struck me as a little less sleazy, and a little more competent, than his opponent.
I voted Republican despite Terri Schiavo, Harriet Miers,
Dubai Ports, Dennis Haster's support of William Jefferson, Foleygate, and Katrina.
That's a lot of nose-holding, I think.
Oh, and did I mention that President Jorge Arbusto's been spending my tax money like a drunken Kennedy? And that it took a Republican defeat in 2006 to get him to finally adopt an Iraq strategy with a chance of winning?
This man's Presidency has been a smirky rodeo ride through history. His attitude towards his screwups has generally been "Too bad."
And, you know, I could have lived with it. Just look at the alternatives: Al Gore and John Kerry. Shudder.
Now, however, he's finally done it. He has added the straw that broke this camel's back. No, it's not his attitude on illegal immigration ("viene uno, viene todos"). It's his reaction to criticism of his amnesty bill.
I drive around Atlanta and see huge billboards in Spanish. Schools have signs in Spanish out front telling kids where to line up if they're walking home or being driven. I call Wachovia and the interactive voice system offers me the option of, yes, Spanish. There are countless lavanderias round town and nightclubs like "El Tucanazo," "El Padrino," "El Colorado." Faced with an invasion of people who scoff at American law and self-segregate into their (growing) ghettos, I find myself wondering what social disruption we might ultimately face.
The result to legitimate questions and concerns? "Too bad" is no longer enough. Now the response is "You're bad!" and "You're bad, and you're scaring the American people!"
Jorge Arbusto and his assorted flacks realize that they've given America the finger one time too many, and that they may not get their way on this latest proposed disaster. They're cornered, and losing, and - rats that they are - out comes the viciousness. Since they can't attack the questons or arguments, they attack the people.
They've finally lost me. And many others. After all the support, this is their last free kick to my nuts.

Immigration, huh! What is it good for?
Well, keeping wages down, for one thing. And supplying new Democrat voters for another.
This is an issue that unites the elected representatives of both parties. The Republican base, fat-cat businessmen, want cheap labor here, so they can whip the peasants, pay them in beads, and still get FDA-approved food. The Democrats just want power for eternity, and a new welfare class with a bunch of new wedge issues to exploit will suit them just fine.
So of course there's a new illegal immigrant amnesty bill, and sure it's got all these penalties and back-taxes, and of course gang members won't be allowed to have "Z" visas, and naturally the illegal immigrant amnesty won't put the Mexicans that are here ahead of, say, the Dutch that are there, and everyone will have to go home and apply for residency, and learn English, and have a bit of an education, and pay taxes from now on, and...
My ass.
Last year President George ("Hore-hay") Bush ("Booooooosh") signed into law a bill that mandates the construction of 800 miles of fence along the US southern border. As of today, three miles have been built. At that rate, we'll see the completion of the wall sometime around 2270, or thereabouts. Although by then we'll be referring to the "pared" on the "frontera" and Mexico will contain mostly wealthy, retired Mexican and American politicians and kleptocrats, enjoying the unspoiled beauty of Mexico's Pacific coast, while actual America will mostly be barrios and maquiadora plants filled with $0.10/hour labor, and the border fence will be there to keep the Americans in, and off their masters' golf courses.
So, the bottom line here is trust. As in, "No confĂo en el gobierno para vivir hasta sus promesas." Or for those of you white, inbred, Christofascist, neo-isolationist yahoos out there: "I don't trust the government to live up to its promises."
Twenty five percent of the illegal immigrants in this country arrived under the bleary, post-alcoholic gaze of Hore-hay Booooooosh. They've now become so truculent that they're happy to show up in public to protest that they want to be legalized, and to tell the current legal residents of the US to get out. To go back to Europe, China, Africa, or wherever. They do this because they know current law won't be enforced, and they don't expect any future law to be enforced either. To them, the rule of law is exactly what it was in the kleptocracy they fled: non-existent. Operationally, they're right.
This has serious implications for the US. We're allowing in an entire class of people who don't speak the language, live in ghettos, have no concept of the rule of law, pay no taxes - other than the sales tax on their food and beer, use emergency rooms instead of getting adequate health insurance, and lower wages for Americans in general.
Oh, and as for doing jobs Americans won't do? I present to you the Fort Dix Six.
So, what to do? CLOSE THE DAMNED BORDER! Jesus H. Christ! Does it get any simpler than that? Then, start deporting illegals every time they're found. We won't have to deport all 12 million of them. For every one we deport, two, three, four will leave of their own free will. After that? Well, let Mexico clean up its act. The Mexicans we have are here because their country is run by the corrupt rich, for the corrupt rich. Kind of like where this country is going right now, though our elected representatives still do have to fear us a little. Let Mexico use its oil wealth to improve its education system and infrastructure, rather than fund Vincente Fox's retirement (Hey, Vincente, where *did* those Pemex pension funds go?). A sealed border would go along way to forcing this sort of change, as the thieving class would have to throw enough sops to the peasants to keep the pitchforks out of their collective gut.

Nearly 80% of U.S. Muslims call suicide bombings unjustifiable
Huh! As opposed to the 20% who do, I guess.
Given that there are about 2.5 million muslims in the US, al Qaeda has a talent pool of about 500,000 to draw on. It doesn't take much head-scratching to figure out that al Qaeda may have a force in the US as large as the US force in, say, Iraq. Given muslim culture (remember bin Ladin's comments about strong horses?), all it'll take is a perceived defeat of the US in Iraq (as most Democrats want), and no public place will be safe.
You have to pity muslims. More particularly, Arab muslims. Here they are, possessed of God's final word to man, a religion that's supposed to guarantee peace and prosperity on earth and eternal life afterwards. And what does daily life look like? Well, your average Arab muslim lives in a kleptocracy, in a culture of shame, and an intellectual desert.
I mean, where are the free Arab muslim elections? And when there are free elections, what is the result? Look no farther than the Gaza Strip. How many muslim women are honor-murdered each year because of some teeny-tiny infraction of the local mores? How many books were translated into, or out of Arabic in the last year? In the last *century*? Where are the Arab micro-electronic fabrication plants? Take any of bin Ladins pictures from recent years, subtract the Western components (AK-47, camo jacket, plastic-coated map, Sony camera, Philips mic), and you're left with Ichabod Crane in yak-hair underwear.
Given all this, of course 20% of them want to self-immolate and take a few heathens with them. I'm surprised it isn't more. Probably the calming effect of living in the world's greatest country.
America must stop accepting muslims until
- They start to treat women like first-class citizens
- They stop looking on non-muslims as fair game
- Their civil society extends beyond their family or clan
- They start learning by heart something other than the Koran
- They start publicly protesting al Qaeda, and all its ilk
- Their first reaction to losing a fair election is not to go for the gun
This might sound harsh, but do you want 297.5 million Americans howling for the blood of the other 2.5 million? Me neither.
